The
Bowling shoe is believed by many to be more important than
a range of balls in assisting scoring and to some extent this
true. How many bowlers actually care for their shoes? Do you
ever clean the sliding and non-sliding soles and heels? The
more dirt that shoes pick up, the more susceptible they are
to inconsistencies in approaches and that can lead to injuries
and less consistent shotmaking.
Bowling
shoe care is simple:
-
Soak the sole with warm to hot water and apply cream cleanser
with a CLEAN scrubbing brush until all the dirt has been
removed from the hide.
-
Rinse the dirt off with clean water and squeegie the sole
with the back of a knife to remove any residue. ALWAYS squeegie
from back of the sole to the front, in order to keep the
grain of the sole going the correct way
-
Dry in the sun or in front of a heater
-
Rubber heels can be easily cleaned with clean water and
a clean cloth, towelling it dry.
-
Hide heels (ie as in Dexter SST5 or Banff XXT5) the procedure
is the same as for the sliding soles
